We have created the following packing tips to help you save time and money:
1. If you decide to pack items in used boxes, be sure to select sturdy boxes that are consistent in size and shape. It is very important that these boxes are able to withstand stacking, otherwise they may collapse and cause damages to your possessions.
2. All boxes should be properly labeled with the name of the room and its contents.
3. Boxes containing fragile items should be clearly marked for special handling.
4. Remember to pack heavy items in the bottom and lighter items on top to avoid damages.
5. Packing paper should be used to wrap fragile items such as glasses, mugs, cups, dishes, etc. Avoid using newspaper, the ink will rub off on your possessions, requiring additional, unnecessary cleaning.
6. It is extremely important to securely tape the bottom and top of each box to prevent the box from collapsing.
7. Books, magazines, cans and other small heavy items should be packed in small boxes.
8. Linens, lampshades, shoes, pots, pans and small appliances should be packed in medium boxes.
9. Pillows, comforters, baskets and toys should be packed in large boxes.
10. China, ceramics, figurines, ornaments, large vases, and small pictures should be carefully packed in a Dish pack.
11. Portraits and mirrors should be packed in Picture Boxes.
12. Hanging clothes should be packed in a Wardrobe Box to minimize wrinkling.
13. Items not to be moved should be clearly marked Do Not Move!
14. Upon arrival at your new location, be sure to label the door of each room to provide the movers with visual direction.
